Last night at Alexander Wang’s spring 2017 runway show, a rumor that had been circulating in recent months proved itself to be true: adidas running shoes by Alexander Wang is happening.
This luxurious rendition of the adidas superstar shoes features a cream leather upper with black and red accents. The three stripe branding on the side panel is simplified with thin black contrast stitching, but the real show-stealing asset is the Yeezy 350 Boost’s rounded suede panel on the medial side. While you’d never confuse a pair of Superstars for a Yeezy Boost, it is cool to see Kasina tinker with the construction in an homage to Kanye’s latest and greatest.
What you see above is known as the adidas Power Phase with Calabasas branding on it. The shoe is a vintage adidas tennis model from the 80s that shares many traits with the much more known Reebok Workout. The shoe comes with both adidas superstar trainers Trefoil and 3-Stripe branding, but what made people take notice is the Calabasas branding noted on the quarter panel. So what exactly is this? We don’t have the answers yet, but my guess is that adidas and Calabasas will have a lot of collaborative projects in the near future.
